Driving innovation requires open and easy access to the data, information, and open infrastructure that is centered around the “People”. This panel discussion will explore the current effort to support Open Science and Open Science Infrastructure and how it supports the scientific community in sharing data, software, research, and publications.
Discussions will be focused on the use cases and existing efforts in the sector of open data and software, Open access to research and publications, and data and information silos. Promoting and improving community engagement to reduce the digital, technological, and knowledge gap following the FAIR data principle.

2. Transforming to Open Science

4. Building infrastructure for open science publications: from silos to integrations
- Deirdre Clarkin (NOAA, Director, NOAA Central, and Regional Libraries)

![Earth from Orbit: Hurricane Ernesto
Even with the storm hundreds of miles offshore, Hurricane Ernesto was still being felt Saturday along much of the U.S. Eastern Seaboard, with dangerous rip currents forcing public beaches to close during one of the final busy weekends of the summer season.
Hurricane specialist Philippe Papin from the National Hurricane Center said Ernesto was a “pretty large” hurricane with a “large footprint of seas and waves” affecting the central Florida Atlantic coastline all the way north to Long Island in New York, with tropical-storm-force winds extending outward up to 230 miles from the storm’s center.

![2023 Satellite Imagery: A Year in Review
NOAA satellites see our planet from a unique and captivating perspective. Every year, they capture the beauty and wrath of Mother Nature unfolding beneath them—devastating hurricanes, raging wildfires, erupting volcanoes—as well as the changing seasons, ocean color and nighttime lights. The view of NOAA satellites isn’t just limited to Earth; they also capture images of our Moon and the Sun, as we navigate our cosmic journey.

![Earth from Orbit: Go Atlas. Go Centaur. Go GOES-T!
On March 14, 2022, GOES-T executed its final engine burn, placing the satellite in geostationary orbit 22,236 miles above Earth. Upon reaching this milestone, GOES-T was renamed GOES-18. GOES satellites are designated with a letter prior to launch and a number once they achieve geostationary orbit.
