This is a new way to equip Deku Stick, Boomerang, or Slingshot as adult, and Hammer, Hookshot, and Longshot as child, etc. Place the cursor on the item you want to equip, then press R to get to the map screen. Next, press Z so the screen begins to rotate. On one frame ( http://i.imgur.com/JUIgIDt.png ) , press down-left(or up-left) and a c-button to equip the item on C. When you hold a direction after the screen rotation, the first item your cursor goes to has to be equippable as your current age. Also, if you have two items on the right-most column of items, you need to use up-left instead of down-left for the trick to work. Note that using a Deku Stick as adult will crash on Nintendo 64, but works on Virtual Console and GameCube.
Valientlink, ikswozol, and Juwk accidentally equipped an bottle over a trade item slot using this glitch a few times in the last few years, but we didn't know how it worked until now. I figured out how to reproduce it and that you could manipulate which item gets equipped, allowing items as the wrong age.
