Rallies in support of Ontario's education workers were held across the province Saturday. The protests come as students are set to head back to school and workers' collective agreements expired Monday. CBC's Mercedes Gaztambide spoke with participants about where they think support is most needed.
When asked about the stalled negotiations, the province said in an email statement: "Our government continues to make historic investments in education to protect student learning, strengthen classrooms and ensure students and teachers have the supports they need to succeed. This year, Ontario is providing a record $30.6 billion in Core Education Funding to school boards, an increase of $7.2 billion, or 30.8 per cent, since 2018, outpacing inflation of 27.1 per cent over the same period."
