🧅 Onions take about 100 to 120 days (3–4 months) to grow from seed.
🧅 During harvest, a typical onion harvester does three jobs in one pass:
• Digging: A front blade loosens the soil beneath the bulbs.
• Lifting: Conveyor belts gently raise onions out of the ground.
• Separating: Soil and debris are shaken off through rotating conveyors or sieves.
🧅 After lifting, onions are laid in rows called “windrows” to dry naturally in the field. This reduces moisture and prepares them for long-term storage.
