When you desperately want to be a grungy girl....
Let’s review the Unearthly Cosmetics Not Normal Remastered palette in a minute or less.
Because I bought the new one… even though I already owned the old one.
I never said I was smart.
If you owned the original, I’m pleased to tell you that Emerald, the green matte that was a little dry and patchy in the OG, is now up to Unearthly’s usual matte goodness. Opaque in one to two layers, true to color as in the pan, and layers and blends perfectly well.
The shimmers is where we see the biggest changes. They’ve new ones have been brought up to Unearthly’s newer, unique formula that brings shift and sparkle without being squishy. Which we love.
I like the new Topaz a LOT (it is orange, after all), but I do kinda miss that lime-y green that the old one brought. I would have liked to see that stay as well.
Speaking of, let’s talk color story.
I really like the new colors that were added; they have that smoky sophistication that UC does really well. But, truth be told, I never really liked the neutral mattes, so I made use of the magnetic palette to put in colors I liked better.
Overall, I’m happy to add these colors to my Unearthly Collection, but I think this color story forces me to confront the fact that I’m just not cool enough to be a grungy girl, even though I really, really want to be. But if you are, I don’t think you could go wrong with this objectively gorgeous, unique color story.
