Here's my complextro remix of Stompstump Peak from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity! Big thanks to Bespinben for being such an awesome transcriber and for being the best Piplup in the whole wide world! Enjoy, I worked hard on this! ;D
Notes:
1. Bespinben is epic! You should seriously check out his GTI arrangement project, there's good stuff there!
2. I decided to follow a similar opening formula to Scorching Desert, another GTI RMX that I did in the past.
3. For this song, I focused more on tempo changes and an extremely unorthodox structure as compared to key changes and time signature flucuations. Stompstump Peak doesn't have as many key changing crud as Scorching Desert does, and insane time signature stuff would make this song extremely painful to follow. Wacky rhythms are still in play, though!
4. While I was making the song, I experienced the true wrath of FL Studio's tempo algorithm. Let me explain. Whenever FL Studio changes the tempo of the song, it has to stretch all the wav files so that they span the length they're supposed to. When FL Studio makes wav files longer, for some reason it decides to give the wavs pitch bending along with it. This makes it really really tough to coordinate wav files in a song where the tempo changes constantly.
5. Right before the C section I poured all my insanity into an extreme pitch bend on the saw lead. I'd say it turned out well!
6. Near the D section I had a hard time figuring out what key the piece was in until I realized that the notes were rooted in a Bb scale, but Bb Dorian instead of Bb Ionian (thanks again Bespy).
7. Mixing for this track was absolutely terrible, mostly because I don't actually know how to mix. At some point I remember going into the mixer to actually mix this track and making it worse. :(
