From outside the gates of Avdiivka, Selydove, and the streets of the city itself, we follow the battles Ukrainian soldiers fought in order to slow the tide of the Russian advance to capture the mining and industrial hub of Pokrovsk, before their expected push to capture the rest of the unoccupied communities of northern Donetsk. These scenes are interspliced with the stories of those locals swept up in the war.
