When a part has hidden sides, deep holes, or complex curves, you’ll need multiple scans from different angles.
Basic workflow:
Scan the object in separate passes (flip it, rotate it, cover every side).
Make sure each scan shares enough overlapping geometry with the next — this is critical.
Import all scan files into your software.
Try auto‑align first — one click works most of the time.
If auto‑align struggles, manually mark the overlapping areas and align them.
Once aligned, merge everything into one complete model.
Important notes:
Good overlap = successful alignment. Without enough shared geometry, alignment becomes very difficult.
Scan slowly and consistently to keep each dataset clean (avoid tracking loss).
Align first, merge second — don’t skip the alignment step.
More angles usually mean a better final model, but always check for overlap.
