New Zealand's National Film Unit presents 'ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN THE WORLD PART 2 – DOCTOR, I HAVE A PROBLEM' (1973)
Drama. Set in the admission ward of a mental hospital, Part II traces the course of Julie’s psychosis and eventual recovery. At the same time we see the day by day activity of the hospital. We see glimpses of the life stories of the other patients and the methods of treatment. Eventually brought to a point of stability by drug therapy Julie returns home and learns to live with and comprehend the nature of her experience. Based on research carried out at Kingseat Hospital the film gives a reasoned yet dramatic glimpse into mental illness and its present treatment.
