The Kusari Kage is easily one of the hardest things I've tried doing research on. Not only are there next to no English sources on it but there's almost next to no Japanese sources on it! The weapon itself was mostly a naval tool used to bring in enemy ships so they can be boarded, however there are sources showing that it was used on land to remove obstacles.
