📦 105kg yearly harvest from one no dig bed — no fertiliser, just compost.
🥔 Potatoes in same bed 11 years, thriving.
🌱 Seeds go in before space opens. No rotation needed.
👨‍🌾 Learn how to create and grow in a no dig bed with my No Dig Beginner’s Course: shop.charlesdowding.co.uk/products/no-dig-growing-for-beginners-online-course

This one no dig bed, just 5ft wide and 16ft long, has yielded an average of 105kg of harvests every year since 2013 — with no fertilisers, no feeds, and just 1 inch (2.5cm) of compost added annually.

I often pop in new seeds and transplants even before neighbouring crops are finished. They settle in gently over 3–4 weeks, ready to grow on once space opens up.

In addition, no dig allows you not to worry about rotation. I’m trialling potatoes in the same bed for 11 years now — and they’re thriving.

Right now in this bed: multi-sown onions, early carrots, dwarf French beans, second early potatoes, cucumbers, beetroot, lettuce, and peas. As crops finish, I twist them out — disturbing the soil as little as possible — and the next crop begins.
