One Man’s Challenge is a 1962 short documentary produced, written, and directed by Dale Smallin. The film follows the effort to open a California teen club in the early 1960s and captures a real look at youth culture, teen dances, surf music, and the Southern California scene of that time.

This film features very early footage of The Beach Boys during their Pendleton shirt era, with Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Carl Wilson, Mike Love, and David Marks appearing around the time “Surfin’ Safari” was first breaking through. Filmed at the Azusa Teen Club in Azusa, California, July 1962.

Listed in connection with the film are Roger Christian as narrator, along with appearances by Johnny Crawford and Gene Weed.
