"Starting from their meeting in Chartres in 1939, the love story of Lucienne, a saleswoman at Gallimard, and Simon, an American student. A Love story set against the backdrop of great History, the end of the Spanish Civil War, and the war against Nazism. A story that moves back and forth between France and America. Lucienne and Simon, who became fictional characters under the pen of a writer, Marie Nimier… my parents," Richard Copans.

In this deeply moving documentary, the director Richard Copans captures the powerful story of his own parents. Moving between France and the United States, the filmmaker retraces his family's intimate memories through 63 wartime love letters from 1944, declassified FBI files, and the airwaves of a legendary radio host—his father, Sim Copans, who famously introduced American jazz to France.

A masterpiece of historical, personal, and poetic transmission told directly by their son.

Director: Richard Copans
