Ireland has the highest proportion of people living with Cystic Fibrosis in the world. It is our most common genetically inherited disease and primarily affects the lungs and digestive system of over 1,300 patients in Ireland. Thankfully this once ‘childhood illness’ now counts over half of its population as over 18, but we are still some distance from having the world-class facilities needed.
New research into Cystic Fibrosis is helping us understand the challenges and providing some of the practical tools which are enabling patients to live longer and enjoy a higher quality of life. Hosted by broadcaster Ciara Kelly this talk will delve into new research and provide a platform to provoke conversation around this difficult disease.
