Alternative title: Vintage Rock & Pop Music from the Pearl of East Asia
This Era in Phnom Penh is often nicknamed the Cambodian "Golden Age" because of the rise of the film & Music Industry at the time. Cambodians started mixing and remixing traditional Cambodian music with Rock and other music genres. This golden age was cut short during the fall and capture of Phnom Penh by the Khmer Rouge and many musicians and singers were then murdered the following years (Like Sinn Sisamouth & Pen Ran) and a few escaped Cambodia or survived the Cambodian Genocide. After the Khmer Rouge was toppled, alot of things have been lost, mostly due to the Khmer Rouge destroying alot of it. Alot of songs remain unknown or unlabeled because of it, and so are the artists who made them. It's a problem that I want fixed someday.
