In 2025, we witnessed extraordinary leaps in the power of artificial intelligence - innovations that continue to inspire, accelerate, and expand what’s possible in art, learning, and discovery. At East Tennessee State University, we celebrate these advances while also honoring the essential creative process: the messiness, the frustrations, and, frankly, the wonderful weirdness that make learning and creativity deeply human.
For this year’s holiday card art challenge, we wanted to capture that spirit in its rawest form. So, we invited three ETSU students and one alum to collaborate - simultaneously and spontaneously - on a single digital canvas. No script. No filters. Just pure creative riffing.
What emerged is wild, imperfect, and delightfully original. The artwork by Ray Barnard, Mary Oakley Robertson, Sara Tendulkar, and Ren Walker reminds us that collaboration can spark beauty and surprise, and that there is real joy in making something together.
From all of us at ETSU: here’s to a future shaped by joyful exploration, human connection, and the hands-on trial and error that make life on a college campus so magical.
