In the beginning stages of World War II, burlesque dancer Katherine O'Hara (Ginger Rogers) ignores the effects of the war and focuses on climbing the social ladder. When she marries the influential Baron Franz Von Luber (Walter Slezak), Katherine seemingly has it made, but Von Luber might not be the man she thinks. Already suspecting Von Luber's ties to Nazism, foreign correspondent Patrick O'Toole (Cary Grant) must convince Katherine to turn spy on her husband to help the Allies' war effort. And he falls in love with her in the meantime.
