Oz is one of the best guitarists i've ever heard, and so it's an amazing treat for me to have him on board for this video.
I can't tell you how much fun it has been to put this together.
I decided to try and film this with the new iPad (third generation) and the "8mm HD" app for it.
Will Lee introduced me both to the App and to Oz Noy, so it's a double thank you to him! :)
No plug in's other then Altiverb were used. No EQ, or Compression, analog or digital.
(well except the amps of course). Just volume, mic placement, and the protools stereo buss limiting (which is there even if you don't put any plug in on it, that's why you don't get digital distortion when you bounce, even if the entire signal is clipping).
on my end, everything except kick and snare, were recorded with my beloved Shure KSM32 and the Universal audio 610 mic pre.
The bass is a concoction of different parts. but mainly a MIJ 62 RI neck and a MIJ 57 RI body. The Pick Up is made by the awesome people at Klein.
Drums are 60's ludwigs, the cymbals are 50's and 60's A Zildjian's.
The trumpet is a 1951 Olds Ambassador, the saxes are Yani 991's and the Trombone is a King 3B.
Sax mouthpieces are by SaxZ and the bone and trumpet's are Mt Vernon Bach's.
All the piano sounds were from and edited in the Nord Stage 2. Best keyboard on the market.
Oh, and there is a shaker loop from Spectrasonics Stylus, on the solo section.
hmm... i was too lazy in the end to re-track the shaker, and i left that! :)
