SquareSplinterThis amazing Industrial Steel and Walnut Dining table build is my take on Industrial / Steam Punk styled furniture. This build clearly has way overbuilt steel CNC plasma cut legs uniquely joined together with copper pipe to get what I think is an awesome industrial furniture look. Definitely a dining table I will be able to use for years to come.
As stated in the video, this dining table project was delayed many times and I am super glad to have it finished. Throughout the video you will notice alot of Time and season changes which of course really messes up the continuity . But as with all my videos I hope you will get some inspiration to go out and create your own unique pieces of art and or furniture for you and your family or even catch a new idea for the next build you have for a customer.
Yes, this build as with most of my builds requires alot of tools. So, don't watch this thinking you will go out in your garage over the weekend and build this Industrial table with a drill and a hammer. NOT to say you couldn't...I am sure it might be possible. Might.

We are taking a car lift and building a torsion box style workbench out of MDF on top of it for the ultimate assembly table. #workbench #assemblytable
A torsion box consists of two thin layers of material (skins) on either side of a lightweight core, usually a grid of beams. It is designed to resist torsion under an applied load. A hollow core door is probably the most common example of a torsion box (stressed skin) structure. The principle is to use less material more efficiently. The torsion box uses the properties of its thin surfaces to carry the imposed loads primarily through tension while the close proximity of the enclosed core material compensates for the tendency of the opposite side to buckle under compression.
Torsion boxes are used in the construction of structural insulated panels for houses, wooden tables and doors, skis, snowboards, and airframes - especially wings and vertical stabilizers. ~~Credit WikipediaNew Way to Collect Dust at the Table SawSquareSplinter2022-02-22 | Sometimes your dust collection at the table saw just isn't good enough. There are tons of choices for gaming desks these days. Some of the name brand ones that include embedded LED's like mine can be very expensive. In this video I give you the links and details to build your own LED gaming desk with parts from IKEA for less than $140 for all the parts. The IKEA desktop is super easy to cut, even without a table saw you could make the cuts with a circular saw if you are careful. The aluminum channel used for embedding the LED's worked perfectly for the look I was going for. It provides a great heat sink for the LED strips as well as matching the top perfectly with the satin black finish. You could easily choose different sized parts at IKEA and personalize a desk to fit just about any office or bedroom space to make the ultimate gaming setup. Fortnite and Call of Duty will never have looked better!

Epoxy is all the rage these days. Although this isn't any kind of river table or even close to that I am super proud of this coffee table build and how it came out. The Total Boat epoxy resin worked beautifully as the sole joinery of the legs on the table. The solid cherry butcher block top mixed with the solid walnut legs give great contrasting color with the teal black diamond colored epoxy dovetail inlays. Although a great result it doesn't come without a cost. Using epoxy for joinery in this way is definitely not a cheap option. The epoxy could easily be replaced with walnut and this would still be a beautiful table. The same with the butcher block cherry top, you could replace it with numerous other more economical options that would still yield a great result.
As always of course, my builds require tools...quite a lot of them, and yes they were expensive. SO if you don't have any tools please just watch my videos for some inspiration as building some of them with a hammer and screwdriver might be a little tough.

A perfect gift for a mom. I had a gentlemen ask if I could turn an old family heirloom into a clock his wife could proudly display on their wall. So after I said yes, and they brought me the box of pieces, we got started. About as epic as Farmhouse decor can get, this Epoxy and Barnwood wall clock would be a great addition to anyones home. In this video I tried to explain my process a bit more on design ideas and walk you through that process.
This was also my first time using Total Boat epoxy and I couldn't be happier. Super easy to use and turned out great in the end.DIY Reclaimed Wood Accent Wall with Glowing Faux BeamSquareSplinter2019-04-11 | Wall Sconce 2 pack
My office was looking pretty bad. I found it was time to do some upgrades to maybe make it look a bit more inviting. So on the backwall we did a complete wall makeover covering it with reclaimed lumber and also built a faux beam with accent lights to finish it off. The wall turned out great and I have had a lot of great comments on it so far. it really made the room look much much better. This is a cheap alternative to sound absorbing acoustic blankets or sound deadening foam panels. These panels can be made with very simple tools and really make a big improvement to the reduction of echo in a room.Silence your ShopVac - Portable Dust Deputy CartSquareSplinter2019-02-02 | Thanks for Watching! Please consider subscribing if you like my content. First off...I hate voiceovers. I hope to get better soon. Shop Vacs are stupid loud. There are tons of versions of carts to tote your shop vac around either by itself or with a Oneida dust deputy attached. I wanted to create one that not only held my dust deputy but also quieted the thing down. So its definitely quieter and works really well. Not the smallest thing in my shop but it just works. As always thanks so much for watching and supporting Square Splinter.

So, when my youngest daughter said she needed a pencil holder for school we decided it would be fun to make one out of her absolute favorite animal the Elephant. Wooden pencil holders can be about as easy or complicated as you want them to be. This one is super easy but it does help to have a bandsaw and spindle sander even though it could be done with a jigsaw and files. So, I present Square Splinter's version of a Wooden Elephant pencil holder. It can also pass as a pen, marker, or phone holder as well.

Business inquiries: squaresplinter@gmail.comSuper Flat and Strong Assembly Table - Exploring New OptionsSquareSplinter2018-10-27 | *CAUTION* This is possibly not a budget friendly project. It also requires quite a few tools to complete. :-)
Everything you could want in an Assembly table. Super flat and Strong with lots of room for upgrades. That was my goal simply to build the ultimate assembly table but not necessarily go with the popular "Paulk" style assembly table top. Again, as stated in the video this isn't necessarily a cheap build so be prepared for that. I have included a link below to one of the best resources I think for extruded aluminum on the internet. Amazingly enough I was able to build this table with my resources for about $150. **Be sure and check your local area for industrial companies that might sell surplus industrial material or similar. That is where I was able to get ahold of these resources for super cheap. Thanks as always for watching my videos and supporting Square Splinter. Stay tuned for more content soon!
Business inquiries: squaresplinter@gmail.comHow to build a Reclaimed Air Cleaner Cart from a Water Slide Blower | Shop ProjectSquareSplinter2018-10-02 | How cheap can you make an air cleaner for your shop? In my case its almost free with the exception of some general supplies and the air filters. This air cleaner cart is assembled completely from reclaimed materials I have had stored away in my shed. Using the blower from an old sir up water slide and some reclaimed lumber from my kids old bunk bed project and we have what we need for a super handy and very useful air cleaner for my new woodshop space. This is the first time I have done a complete voiceover so please bear with me as I get used to this process and get better as time goes on. Thanks for watching!
Shoutout to Jay Bates for the original design of this Air cleaner cart. Checkout his original video with more build details below. youtube.com/watch?v=Uzpn09OIyqw

Much longer and just a talking head (me) trying to share my experience with vinyl wrapping and how I think it best to apply to woodworking projects. Inspiration came for this video thanks to the guys over on @Modernmakerpodcast. Be sure to check them out.
