With better pictures from the past I was able to confirm that the wall was indeed their but it was not made from the larger pieces I propose here, it was a wall made of smaller stones and mortar similar to the boundary walls beside and beneath the larger complex.
Comparison of old photos of Ollantaytambo vs how it is now.
Much that is described as "primitive" Inca work is actually restoration/preservation work done in the last 100 years.
However in the old photos there is a curiosity pointing to a collapsed wall section of the "MEGALITHIC" stone.
The full story of this may very well be documented however I have not heard it discussed and doing a deep dive into the records is not something I have the time to devote at the moment.
