In this video I demo three great Olds trumpets; a Mendez from '53, a Super from '62, and a Recoring from '64. At this time Olds was still putting out very fine instruments. This Mendez weighs in at 36.7 ounces, 1,044 grams. The Super weighs in at 38.3 ounces, 1088 grams, and the Recording weighs in at 39.1 ounces, 1109 grams. The Olds Symphony ('34) weighs in at 39.1 ounces as well - with its heavier bell), and a more exact weight of 1110 grams. I play the Mendez, Super and Recording with 3 mouthpieces; first with a legit GR64MX, then with a deep TF piece - Reeves C2J, and lastly with a lead/commercial piece - Monette's BLM. Lastly, I play the Symphony with the GR64MX. Individual clips are listed below:
