Oklahoma, Two Stories. The first section is about visiting my biological grandfather's grave, in Stillwater. I never met him, but knew he lived here in retirement, and am glad I found his final resting place.
The second is about Karen Silkwood. I don't go into much detail about her full story, but if you don't know it you may want to look it up, which may help you follow my interest here. In essence, Karen was a technician at the Kerr-McGee nuclear fuel processing plant who was very critical of the company's safety standards. She ended up being poisoned with plutonium, and ultimately lost her life in a car accident near the Kerr-McGee plant under suspicious circumstances, that are still not fully resolved to this day.
I mentioned in my video about Three Mile Island that I am pro-nuclear power. That doesn't mean I'm blind about the industry, never critical of it, or its management. I do however believe that because of Karen, her activism, her passion and story, the industry was ultimately better operated with greater oversight as years have gone on.
