How to replace the oil pressure switch on a 2006 to 2013 Toyota Yaris Mk2 with the 1KR-FE 1.0 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. The oil pressure switch activates a warning light on your dash when your engine's oil pressure drops below a certain level. A faulty oil pressure switch could cause the oil warning light to blink or stay on constantly. This switch is one possible reason that the oil warning light illuminates on your dash, however, the warning light could also be lit up for these other reasons:
• Your oil level is low (check the level using the dipstick)
• The engine oil is very dirty
• The oil filter is clogged
• The oil pump needs to be replaced
If your oil warning light is showing on your dashboard, you should stop and turn off your engine as soon as it’s safe to do so. If the oil pressure is in fact low, you could cause serious damage to the engine if you continue to drive.
