Sometimes care goes beyond borders. 🌍 OHSU Doernbecher craniofacial surgeon Dr. Lori Howell recently traveled from Portland to Malawi with OHSU staff as part of Operation Smile. Their mission? To bring life-changing care to children with cleft lip and palate — restoring smiles and hope — while also empowering local surgeons with the knowledge and skills they need to carry that care forward in their own communities. 💙🩺
For Dr. Howell, the experience was aboaut more than surgery — practicing in new environments challenges us, strengthens our team, and ultimately makes OHSU a better place for our patients at home. When healthcare professionals work together, everyone benefits.
