Hip Hop is THE dominant genre in the world at the moment.

Although aesthetics and cadences have changed over time the essential ingredients of Hip Hop have stayed the same.

It’s stories told by ‘the other’.

It’s social commentary.

It’s unapologetically in your face.

As part of our ongoing 'Off The Record' series, we sat down for the first of two Q&A’s with our Class of 2018 AIM MCs for an exploration of deep cut story-telling, lyricism and an insight into the current mindset of young Australian artists.

@Rapper D.Minor , @Yaw & @infernomusic are three AIM MCs each with a story to tell; from turbulent upbringings, foster homes, homelessness, shady management and endless ambition.

Adversity hasn’t broken them - it has made them stronger, wiser and hungrier to succeed.

They’re part of our class of 2018 and they’re Australia’s next wave of artists ready to step up.
