We are starting out mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70’s. Highs this afternoon will only reach the upper 80’s and lower 90’s thanks to a higher rain chance. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around starting this morning into the afternoon and evening. You likely won’t see rain all day, but rounds of off and on storms are likely. The stated severe weather risk is to our west, but we cannot rule out a few strong storms with gusty winds, heavy rain, lightning and thunder. Widespread flooding is not expected, but localized flooding is possible in areas that see multiple rounds of heavy rain. Rain chances stay high Friday before decreasing a bit this weekend. Temperatures stay seasonable in the lower 90’s. In the tropics, we are tracking a tropical wave moving into the central tropical Atlantic (AL96) with a high chance for development. A tropical depression or storm could form briefly today, but starting tomorrow, the environment becomes a bit more hostile, which should limit further development. The next name on the list is Dolly. No imminent threats to our stretch of the Gulf Coast.
