Together, we walked in the footsteps of the ancient Macedonians and explored the palace and the royal necropolis. I especially loved the museum of the royal tombs, where we saw the shield and armor of King Philip II, the father of Alexander the Great.But our trip didn’t end there! After the sightseeing tour, we bought some souvenirs and enjoyed Greek food—souvlaki and Greek salad—for a picnic in a beautiful spot by the river. I thought that if I spoke, I would sound wrong, that people might laugh or not understand me. And this fear didn’t just hold me back in the language—it held me back in life.I lost moments… chances to meet amazing people from all over the world, to share stories, to connect heart to heart, to see life through their eyes.But the moment I let go of shame, everything changed. I started learning on my own, back when we couldn’t find many resources, and then I went to a school for 4 months. After that, I started again and stopped again — just like any other adult learner out there! I consider myself at an A1 level (maybe lower). Now I try to listen to the language whenever I have the chance, but I rarely speak it.This year was my first time in Spain. And it was actually my first time speaking Spanish in real-life situations!It was an incredible and super immersive experience for me. Everyone in Málaga was so kind and happy, especially when I told them I’m learning their language.We tried to film some of my attempts, but we didn’t catch some of the awesome conversations I had with the taxi driver Ernesto, and the waitress at Sirocco Plaza Restaurant, who was so nice and patient with me.Thank you all for making my experience in Spain the best memory of my life so far! ¡Hasta luego! But it’s a strong drink — and to be honest, I personally don’t need strong drinks to have fun. For me, all it takes is good company, a few funny people, and a healthy, positive environment.My message to you is this: Come to Greece, enjoy yourself, and don’t feel pressured to drink alcohol.
