About The Odyssey in American Sign Language (YouTube channel link: youtube.com/channel/UCF7rGXfrsYFqfDuxiihqA9Q/featured?view_as=subscriber):
The goal of this graduate project, completed at St. Mary's University (San Antonio), is to accomplish the following:
a) demonstrate an ASL interpretation of an advanced work of literature is possible;
b) raise awareness of the need for professional productions of interpretations of literature by qualified individuals and teams to increase accessibility for Deaf and hard of hearing students;
c) generate interest among prospective interpreters, certified interpreters, and Deaf signers for the possibility of future professional interpretations of literary works by qualified individuals and teams; and
d) demonstrate that the end product can be made fully accessible (i.e., American Sign Language for Deaf viewers, voiceover for low vision and blind viewers, captions for non-signing or international-signing hard of hearing, D/deaf, and non-native English speakers, transcripts generated from captions for screen readers).

This video is Book 6, in which Odysseus, having been freed from Calypso's island, washes ashore on Phaeacia and encounters the princess Nausicaa, who agrees to help him.
