Made from 140 small octahedrons of 36 balls each, for a total of 5040 neodymium magnet balls, half golden and half nickel coated. It looks similar to a katamari from the Katamari Damacy game series, except it is hollow.
This is one of my personal favourite magnetic ball shapes I have come up with, but geometrically it is only an approximation, because joined octahedrons do not form perfect pentagonal rings but leave a small gap. The magnetic force closes most of each gap however to make a nice looking magnet construction.
