there's a stick shift of progress and pride, and it's going to one

there's a long story here, but for brevity, post-worlds life burnt me out to the point where i didn't see a point in returning to a competitive level. i stayed registered for nats on the off-chance that i would want to compete, but even up until two weeks ago i was just going to show up for stream and that's it. i even wrote a draft post announcing my withdrawal. recently i found the drive to start moderately practicing again, but still wasn't expecting too much out of this round. certainly wasn't expecting a 2023 nats 4bld redux!

i feel the two-month cold turkey break has actually served me extremely well. i've had nothing but time, and through that God has guided me in habit and character to get through tough times in the future. i'm extremely grateful for everyone who's actually been there for me, meeting my 3am ramblings and laments with grace and compassion. 2025 will be a year i look back on extremely fondly in future as the year that i truly started living. i soared, i lived, i let go, i saw, i mourned. i loved, i lost, but i survived. love you guys ❤️
