The Friends of Old Puppy duo play Ochi chyornye. The music for "Ochi chyornye" (Очи чёрные a.k.a. "Dark Eyes" and "Les yeux noirs") was written by Florian Hermann around about 1884 under the title "Valse Hommage". The lyrics of the song were written by the Ukrainian poet and writer Yevhen Hrebinka and translated into Russian around about 1843. Lyrics are not used in this performance. The Friends of Old Puppy Duo features Steven Strauss on Risa electric soprano ukulele, Ed Johnson on wash-tub bass ("gutbucket"). This music was recorded on Saturday, June 22, 2013.
