After our successful 2016 expedition in the Eastern Azores with the Oceano Azul Foundation we were excited to join them on a new effort. This time we would investigate the Western Azores and also work with our partners at National Geographic's Pristine Seas (among many others). We know this crack team very well, having worked with them in many of the world's last remaining ocean wildernesses.
This short was presented to local scientists and government officials in the Azores, who we hope will use the information to create well thought out, effective marine protected areas.
We look forward to much more information and another film once everyone has had a chance to process the results of the expedition. Congrats to Expedition leaders Dr. Emanuel Gonçalves and Paul Rose for such an ambitious and successful effort!
