Tessa Coates spoke to HeyUGuys at the Ride or Die Premiere at Ham Yard Hotel, where the creator and showrunner reflected on writing comedy into the assassin genre and giving her cast — particularly Jamie Parker — the freedom to run wild with the material. Coates also explained why she was determined never to let the action become the joke, insisting the show treats its action heroines as genuinely, formidably capable.

Plot: Ride or Die follows best friends Debbie Claybourne (Octavia Spencer) and Judith Burton (Hannah Waddingham), who thought they knew everything about each other — except Judith turns out to be an international assassin. When a mysterious figure emerges from Judith's past and a hit goes horribly wrong, both of their worlds are turned upside down as they're forced to go on the run together, in a race against time across Europe with law enforcement, assassins and dangerous criminals at their heels.

Ride or Die will be available on Prime Video from 15th July 2026.
