Evie (ChickasaurusGL) 🌺 | Obtain MissingNo. (0xAF) with GoldBadge item (addendum to the GoldBadge glitch) (Red/Green v1.0) @ChickasaurusGL | Uploaded February 2023 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
For this glitch you'll need the ゴールドバッヂ (0x6A) glitch item.
You can get it by obtaining the expanded inventory https://glitchcity.wiki/Expanded_inventory_(Select_glitch_method) and finding it from the y-coordinate in Cycling Road, see youtube.com/watch?v=r5P5jzymD-U
I wrote the instructions for this addendum to catch MissingNo. here. https://glitchcity.wiki/ItemDexJP/RG:106_(v1.0)
"Using the glitch item will also corrupt CFBF (wEnemyMonSpecies2) into MissingNo. (0xAF). The player should close the Poké Mart with B then press B until the invisible text box for the opponent's action next turn is closed. Pressing up and right keeps the invisible cursor on the items menu, after which the player can press A. Afterwards, if the player memorises the list and has a Ball they can throw it, enabling them to catch the MissingNo. and end the battle. Note the cursor position is preserved after entering the menu, for example if GoldBadge was in the second position, opening the invisible item list will bring it up on that position."
This glitch is an alternative to using the CoolTrainer glitch in a cave to catch a MissingNo. (0x38) https://glitchcity.wiki/Move_0x00_corruption_(Generation_I) however the GoldBadge behaviour seems to only apply to Red/Green v1.0 rather than 1.1 where the GoldBadge work the same way.
