Yesterday, I visited a friend who helped me with changing my car's oil filter, and while my car was elevated, I wanted to have a little bit of fun that could only be had when the wheels were not touching the ground. First I tested out the throttle, as my friend pressed on my car's accelerator (gas) pedal, letting more air into the carburetor. You can hear the engine rev as he does this.


The second clip in this video is observing the wheels moving when the car is in the "drive" gear. With no resistance from the ground, they move pretty quickly! Or at least it seems that way when the car isn't moving. They'd move slower in a normal gear. (Also, yes, one of my front wheels is missing a hubcap. It came off a few years ago and I've never bothered to replace it.)


Additionally, I learned something new while taking a look at my car. I learned that when the front wheels are not moving by the power of the car, if you manually rotate one wheel, the other wheel on the axle will rotate in the opposite direction. Weird, right?
