When my observation hive swarmed, it clustered on a nearby pergola. I used some queen pheromone, which I keep by preserving a queen bee in alcohol, to encourage the bees into my nuc box. Once the swarm is inside the box I can relocate it and move it somewhere more convenient. Once they got the idea that the box was a suitable place they ran inside quite happily.
