The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is finally on Nintendo Switch 2 — but how well does this demanding Unreal Engine 5 remaster actually run on Nintendo’s handheld?
I tested Oblivion Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 and compared it directly against Xbox Series S and PS5 Pro, covering graphics, resolution, loading times, frame rate and Switch 2 battery life.
The Switch 2 version targets 1080p docked and 900p handheld using NVIDIA DLSS, and surprisingly, it can actually look sharper than Xbox Series S in some scenes.
But performance is a different story.
In my 21-minute FPS analysis, Switch 2 averaged 29.8 FPS but experienced major frame-pacing issues and drops as low as 15 FPS.
In this video:
• Nintendo Switch 2 vs Xbox Series S vs PS5 Pro
• Docked and handheld graphics comparison
• Switch 2 DLSS image quality
• Oblivion Remastered resolution comparison
• 30 FPS vs 60 FPS
• Detailed Switch 2 FPS test
• Xbox Series S performance
• PS5 Pro Performance mode
• Loading-time comparison
• Switch 2 battery-life test
• Physical cartridge version
• Overall Switch 2 port impressions
I also tested battery life from 100% until shutdown, with Oblivion Remastered lasting 2 hours and 26 minutes on Nintendo Switch 2.
Visually, this is an impressive portable conversion — but the performance problems prevent it from being the definitive version.
