The White House is requesting 3.7 billion dollars in emergency funding from Congress to address the ongoing border crisis.
Most unaccompanied minors flooding the country from Central America will not be allowed to stay.
That includes those tied to gangs.
But, victims of domestic abuse may get asylum.
The money would fund more detention facilities for immigrant children. It would also fund the hiring of additional immigration judges to expedite hearings.
Tens of thousands of young Hispanic immigrants who have illegally crossed the border into Texas this year remain in limbo while waiting to be processed and possibly deported to their home countries.
