The oath of a Universal Justice of the Romans. Four individuals called Universal Justices of the Romans in the Late Byzantine Empire were tasked with upholding justice and rooting out corrupt practices. This oath from 1329, was perhaps formulated by the founder of this reform Andronikos III and John Kantakuzenos and would have been made by two of the clerical justices when they took the office.
