This month Dianna received a helpful procedure, and the doctor was kind enough to allow me to come along, film, and ask questions. In the video Dr. How explains a little bit about the stellate ganglion block (SGB).

We can not THANK YOU guys enough for helping make this happen. It means the world to Dianna.
Dianna is suffering from Long COVID and ME/CFS and has been bed-ridden for over a year and a half. She decided to host this stream in order to bring more awareness and funds to research into finding a cure for this disease. Thank you so much to everyone who tuned in.
If you missed it, we recommend watching the interviews from the full Live-stream if you'd like to learn more about ME/CFS and Long COVID. The Live stream is available on the Physics Girl channel on Youtube, and the schedule is listed in the description.
Thank you so much to everyone for helping make this happen. Dianna was so moved by how many people showed up, and she's so glad she could bring more awareness to those suffering from this disease.
If you'd like to watch the full interview on the Live-stream, you can do so here - youtube.com/live/v8HWt9g4L0k?si=Dn3k-wxkVV0K65u4&t=31913

The purpose of the Livestream is to raise money and awareness for those suffering from the disease. All funds will be going to the Open Medicine Foundation (OMF), a non-profit research organization dedicated to finding effective treatments for ME/CFS. (https://www.omf.ngo/)
The live stream will take place from 6:45 AM to 6PM. Pacific Time (PT). Hosts Kyle, Simone Giertz, and Ian Hecox will be answering your questions throughout the day. And we have scheduled pre-recorded interviews from experts in the field helping us better understand the disease as well.
Dianna will not be talking during the Livestream, she will be in bed, mostly awake, but resting all day - as she does everyday. Viewers can learn from the interviews and discussions, hear the hosts answer your questions, and of course see Dianna.
All donations can be made straight to the Open Medicine Foundation by hitting the donate button on this page.
A quick note on Dianna's camera - The brightness you see in her room does not accurately reflect how dark it is in her room every day. The exposure is set very high on the camera. So her room appears MUCH brighter than it actually is. Dianna's room is dark, and very dimly lit.

ME/CFS -- Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) is a complex multi-system disease with many symptoms that may change over time and differ from patient to patient. The most common symptoms of ME/CFS are post-exertional malaise (worsening of symptoms upon even minimal exertion), unrefreshing sleep
Long COVID -- Contains a wide array of symptoms after first being infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, including fatigue, shortness of breath, muscle aches, dysautonomia, sleep disturbances, and what people refer to as brain fog.
Post Exertional Malaise(PEM) -- A hallmark symptom of ME/CFS. People with ME/CFS often experience a worsening of symptoms after even small amounts of mental or physical exertion, resulting into what's called a crash.
The purpose of the Livestream is to raise money and awareness for those suffering from the disease. All funds will be going to the Open Medicine Foundation (OMF), a non-profit research organization dedicated to finding effective treatments for ME/CFS. (https://www.omf.ngo/)
The Livestream will be viewable at youtube.com/physicsgirl
From 6:45A.M. (PT. Pacific Time) to 6:00P.M. (PT).
Kyle, Simone Giertz, and Ian Hecox will be answering your questions during the stream, and a few pre-recorded interviews from experts in the field will help us better understand the nature of the disease.
Dianna will not be talking during the Livestream, she will be in bed, mostly awake, but resting all day - as she does everyday. Viewers can learn from the interviews and discussions, hear the hosts answer your questions, and of course see Dianna.

Hopefully she can avoid crashes, and reduce the amount of energy it takes to wash and maintain her hair every week. Millions of people are suffering from this quiet and deadly disease.

We made a small time-lapse of what it looks like in Dianna's room for a day. This is what she has been doing every day since January of 2023.
Many people think if she were in her room all day without anything to do, that she could maybe watching TV or reading books. But the mental toll ME/CFS takes disables her from being able to do anything fun that is mentally stimulating. She is awake, but unable to meaningfully interact or have many complex thoughts.
Dianna gets a few meals a day, a few words exchanged with her husband Kyle, and not much else.

(For those that do not know Dianna) Dianna Cowern is a Youtube science communicator and educator who came down with Long COVID after getting COVID in Summer of 2022. Since then she has developed MCAS, ME/CFS, and Dianna has been bed-bound for almost a year now. We share her story here to bring awareness to her situation and to the millions of people suffering from chronic fatigue around the globe.

This is a blooper taken from Dianna's Patreon. It comes from an un-seen video we filmed, but never finished editing. Someday I hope we get to finish it and make it live. Dianna is still on the mend! The very long and slow mend...

(Dianna's editor) - It's great that there are solutions like this to help Dianna get what she needs to help her in her recovery. And she genuinely looks better than she did earlier in the year. I can interact with her for a couple minutes a couple times a day, as apposed to her and I exchanging only a couple words a month like we were in March. But, with all that said, she is still daily bed-ridden and has a long road ahead of her. Many people ask daily if there are any health updates, and unfortunately, it's a very long and slow process with not a lot of progress. I have started helping Kyle care-take for Dianna full time, and being here is very surreal. She is still very very sick, but we are staying hopeful. And none of it would be possible without the online support. I'll give more updates whenever I can. Thanks guys.

Current estimate of Antimatter, courtesy of Elise:
Stefan Ulmer made a back-of-the-envelope calculation based on energy and power consumption. The explanation goes as follows:
1. CERN produces 3e7 antiprotons per AD cycle or about 1e15 per year
2. This is about 1e15*1.67e-27kg = 1.67 nanogram per year
3. 1 gram of antiprotons has an energy (E=mc^2) of 9e13 Joule
4. The efficiency of the antiproton production process is 1e-9, so you need a billion times more energy: 9e22 Joule
5. The cost of power for CERN is 1kWh = 3.6e6 Joule = 0.1 euro
6. So that would make 0.1/3.6e6*9e22 = 2.5e15 euro
7. And it would take CERN 6e8 years
