Even in the midst of the experience, you find yourself longing for it—because you know that being there, like everything else, is fleeting.
Live From The Great Gate - Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima The Kyoto Connection 2025-08-30 | On the sacred island of Miyajima, we had the privilege of performing music beneath the gaze of the legendary Ōtorii, the “Great Gate” that rises from the sea in front of Itsukushima Shrine. Recognized as one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks, this vermilion gate has welcomed travelers and dreamers for centuries, symbolizing the threshold between the human and the divine.That evening, with the tide surrounding the torii and the lights shimmering on the water, we played a dialogue between violin and synthesizer. It was a night of stillness and resonance — a bridge between tradition and modern sound.Earlier that day, we had wandered through the lively streets of the island, shared moments with the friendly deer that walk freely around Miyajima, and climbed the paths leading into its lush forests. But when the night fell, standing before the torii, we felt something different: the deep silence of history and the timeless heartbeat of this sacred place.This video is our humble offering to that unforgettable night — a memory of music, nature, and spirit, forever framed by the Great Torii of Miyajima.
WARABIGAMI 童神 (1987 Showa Mix) // The Kyoto Connection The Kyoto Connection 2025-08-30 | "Warabigami" is one of Okinawa’s most beloved traditional songs. It is a song filled with tenderness and spirituality, reflecting the very soul of Okinawa.In this version, we drew inspiration from the sounds and aesthetics of Japanese music in the 1980s, the Shōwa era. Warm synthesizers, dreamy atmospheres, and a nostalgic pulse blend with the traditional melody to create a unique tribute — a bridge between the ancestral and the modern.Just four months ago, we were in Okinawa, and we can still feel the spirit of that land on our skin: its sea, its people, and its music. This homage is born from that experience and from our wish to share a piece of Okinawa with the world.The title Warabigami (童神) carries a deep meaning. In Japanese, 童 (warabi / dō / kodomo) refers to “child,” and 神 (kami / gami) means “god” or “divine spirit.” While in standard Japanese the word would be read Dōshin, in the Okinawan language it becomes Warabigami. This difference in pronunciation is part of Okinawa’s unique cultural identity, and it reminds us that the song is not only about love and tenderness, but also about the sacred value of life itself.thekyotoconnection.com

I needed a lightweight, portable instrument with endless sounds and remarkable customization capabilities. Built-in speakers? That would be amazing. Battery-powered operation? A dream come true.Fortunately, that dream became a reality with the Yamaha CBX-K1XG, a compact 3-octave keyboard featuring a full Yamaha XG sound engine. Although it's an older piece of equipment (from the mid-'90s) and a bit delicate, its sound is simply incredible. With a little patience and dedication (and the help of XGEdit95, a program that only runs on older versions of Windows), I can program truly remarkable sounds. No external effects used in this demo. You're listening to all true XG power!I've assembled a complete library of ambient, new-age tones—some quirky, others deeply inspirational—to accompany me on this journey through Japan. Here's a little prototype. It needs work, but it's something. It would be great to hear it someday at the station, on the tower, or in some public space in that city 😀❤️
