Heart with Dreams mixed media canvas for Finnabair Aleksandra Mihelic 2022-03-21 | The things that attract me most in the last few months are natural colors and elements. I’m drawn to all that nature gives us. Last time when we were having a walk with my family, I found this gorgeous piece of tree mushroom and I knew right away that this will be the main focal point of my canvas. I added also some other natural dried elements. And I used some pretty paper pieces cut outs - mostly florals, from the latest spring paper collection I designed. Hello Autumn Altered Vintage phone Metal frame Finnabair Aleksandra Mihelic 2021-10-01 | It’s been some time since I last created something for you. I’ve been going through some personal hardships and my inspiration went away totally. But now I’m here again and I am so so happy for it. I truly enjoyed making this project – Hello Autumn.I had this vintage phone metal frame from older Finnabair releases sitting on my shelf for quite some time. I fell in love with it the first time I layed my eyes on it wanted to make something beautiful with it, but never had the right inspiration for it. But with Fall approaching also the inspiration came. I love Fall because it dresses the beautiful nature in such gorgeous palette of colors. So my today’s project “Hello Autumn” is a tribute to the glorious Autumn landscapes. I hope you’ll like my project and I’ll see you soon again with some more inspiration. I decided to go with gorgeous Poppies from AB studio paper collection. I'm not a big fan of red color when it comes to creating, but I adore Poppies. I chose two beautiful sentiments to go with my tags - "Be gentle" and "Be strong". There is a reasong behind these sentiments. I feel that Poppies are so gentle at the first sight... those beautiful silky blossoms seem to just shatter even if you just look at them. But funny enough wind doesen't destroy them, they just go and move with it. I feel like there is so much wisdom hidden in this. Golden Pharaoh | Altered wooden panel | With new Finnabair moulds and gilding metallic flakes Aleksandra Mihelic 2021-02-17 | I love all the amazing moulds from the Finnabair new release. And as soon as I saw the “Grungy frames” mould and “Queens of Steam” I instantly knew they are a perfect fit. I created this gorgeous altered wooden panel that looks like some kind of an Egyptian treasure, doesn't it? Of course, gold Metallic flakes from the new release go perfectly with the panel and the Pharaoh treasure. Mixed media altered pencil case | with Finnabair Aleksandra Mihelic 2021-01-29 | Ever since I was a little girl I was always in love with different paper and “office” supplies. My favourite times of the school year, beside the last day of the school (laugh), were the days before the school started, because I always got to pick new notebooks and pencil cases and pencils. And all to this day today I still get excited shopping for such things. So, from one of such trips, I had a pencil case, which really wasn’t of my favourite color or design, so I decided that I will try to re-design and alter it. I am excited and so happy with the result, I got a beautiful mixed media altered pencil case made with gorgeous Finnabair and Prima products. Mixed media Mermaid tail | with Lindys gang | creating texture using eggshells Aleksandra Mihelic 2021-01-05 | When I saw this quote a while ago, it resonated with me so much. I feel like in recent times there are so many "sharks" out there and sometimes swimming with them is not the easiest thing to do, right? But we have to guard our hearts. There is nothing more beautiful and rewarding than when in the life full of sharks you suddenly meet a mermaid.So beeing inspired by that, I altered this MDF wooden mermaid tail from Woodouts. Dreaming Moon | Be in the moment | Mixed media Canvas | For Finnabair Aleksandra Mihelic 2021-01-02 | 2020 finally came to an end. I’m sure some of us are happy to be so, as this year was more challenging than most of average ones. But although there was much tensions and stress in this year with the situation around the world, I do believe it was also a year for personal growth. And one thing that I learned from this past year and I began to learn also in previous years that were sadly also none easier for me than this one, was to live and be in the moment. Sadly, all we have is now and here... yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not promised to any of us, so let’s just be in a moment for a while and try to enjoy it while it last. I learned that challenges are also easier to overcome this way.I decided to work with the image of the moon. Night is one of the most difficult parts of the “day” for me. I am busy through the day keeping everything in order, taking care of my family and kids, household, finishing my custom orders and taking care of my design team obligations... but when day ends and when everything gets quiet around the house, that is the time, when sometimes doubts and fears sneak out and start to bug me. Big mixed media Winter ATC coin bases for Finnabair Aleksandra Mihelic 2020-11-28 | It’s getting really cold here in Slovenia these last days and we are almost in December. This year was so unexpected and different from any other. Here in Slovenia, we are in complete lockdown for few weeks now. But I hope we will still have beautiful and magical December time. The only thing I wish is that we would be able to spend at least some time with our extended families, which we haven’t seen for such long time and really miss them. I hope there is also some snow coming, it makes things so much more magical. In this thinking of winter time and suitable to cold mornings here in Slovenia, I wanted to prepare something not completely wintery and snowy but inspired by cold frosty mornings. I made two big mixed media ATC coins and embellished them with some natural elements, cotton bud, and some chipboards. I chose two different words that relate to Christmas time and spending time with our dear ones – cherish and love. There is some special magic hidden in them. This gorgeous Finnabair Teapot metal frame was one of my favourites since the first time I laid my eyes on it. And I was saving it for a winter themed project. It feels perfect. I love to have a cup of hot tea in a warm winter day. And here with this project I prepared for you, we can pour ourselves a cup of winter. In case it doesen't come. I made a gorgeous winter scene with snowy landscape and snowy trees and a beautiful snowy bridge. Making snow with Finnabair products is realy easy and rewarding and it makes project look so real. I also used several Finnabair moulds to shape resin embellishments with stars and moon which shines over the snowy landscape. With its white and blue colors it brings that fresh look that a real winter project needs and with a hint of a metal brown and gold adds that „sparkle“ for the magic. Mixed media Altered Window wooden pannel | Strength | Lindys gang | Woodouts Aleksandra Mihelic 2020-04-30 | For today, I made this lovely mixed media altered Window wooden panel, and I included a beautiful quote that really lifted me up: "Strength doesn't come from what you can do, it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn't (Rikki Rogers).I hope it will do the same for you too!First I added some Graphite texture paste on my wooden frame and dried it well. Then I covered everything with a coat of white gesso, using a dry brush and again dried it well. Next, I added Lindy's embossing powder Raspberry Lemonade, on top of the frame and heated it so that it melted onto the surface. After that, I used some Permanent brown distress ink to darken the edges a bit. After the Window frame was done, I attached it to a piece of paper. I used a beautiful Dusty Attic swirl chipboard piece for the base of my composition. I first covered it with white gesso using a dauber and when dry I colored it with Andrea's Azalea magical from Alexandra's artists Magical set. I glued it down to my window frame and embellished everything with some paper flowers and paper cuts. As a finishing touch, I dry-brushed everything a bit with some dry gesso and added a few white splatters with diluted acrylic paint.I used Woodouts wooden window frame, some Finnabair mediums, Prima flowers and of course Lindy's Magicals: Andrea's Azalea from Alexandra's artists set and Raspberry Lemonade embossing powder.I hope you liked the inspiration that I prepared for you today!Thank you for joining me. Altered mixed media frame | Finnabair | Leave a trail Aleksandra Mihelic 2020-04-15 | We are in some strange times, when each one of us is trying their best to stay positive, stay safe and healthy and still enjoy the time. In Slovenia we are in full quarantine still, but things are starting to get better and I wholeheartedly hope we will so on be able to at least spent some more time outside. I really really miss nature and all the walks. And that is why my latest creation are often closely connected to nature. I’m using a lot of elements from nature and I feel like I can connect at least a bit with it this way. And my today’s project is no different.I altered a frame and added a big nest inside, which I decorated and filled with my favourite Finnabair things. I used some tree bark pieces and some tree branches of different sizes, a tree trunk slice, some dried flowers. The focal point is beautiful photo with an inspiring quote: “Don’t go wherethe path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” by Ralph Waldo Emerson. You can find it in Finnabair’s Art Daily collection of stickers. I also added lots of Finnabair mechanical metal pieces, which I dry-gessoed, to blend them into the project. As a finishing touch, I added some grey mica flakes, some pearl glass glitter and some white glitter on top.Hope you like my today’s inspiration. Mixed media canvas | Fields of Happiness| Finnabair | Art Recipe Aleksandra Mihelic 2020-04-12 | I enjoyed this month’s Art Recipe so much! I love the combination of colors! I tried to include all the Art ingredients also. I feel it is a special challenge for me to bring them all together – all colors and all ingredients. Lately I love to create with natural elements. In the times we are facing, nature brings me a special comfort and hope. It was the same with this project.I tried to use some natural elements, like branches, moss and also added lots of natural elements with chipboard pieces – like leaves, mushrooms,… The combination of deep purple and gold gives this project a bit of a glamorous touch, so I used this lovely vintage girl with a beautiful dress, and made her look as she is playing in the woods completely carefree. We all need such child in us sometimes!Hope you like my inspiration for you!
