On yet another journey up the really nicely designed #bikenyc protected lanes thru Herald Square I realized need to give credit to NYC DOT, maybe the most comfortable 3 block ride in Midtown. Let's hope that safety continues up to 59th!

It's a very congested area with bikes, pedestrians, cars & other uses. The psychology of where the CitiBike docks are placed with jersey barriers, planters & giant boulders leads to decent compliance from all modes. A lot of thought was put in to the redesign.
