Before Henry was given his new shape, his old shape made him a bad steamer due to his smaller firebox with the regular coal. However, the solution to his steaming problem was to use welsh coal, which was expensive. But it had worked wonders for the big green engine until one day, it was deemed as too expensive thanks to the great depression and Topham Hatt had to find other solutions until the welsh coal he had ordered runs out, poor Henry!
