This one was actually not something I planned for but I'm more than happy I got it. I was chasing Cardinal 51 since Manassas and I beat it to Mechums River. Since track speed over the Buckingham Branch Railroad is about 30mph maximum. I tried beating it again to Waynesboro where a big crowd was. I asked if they were there for Amtrak or something and one said "the steam engine" and I responded "what steam engine?"
I didn't even realize this was 611's final day on the Buckingham Branch. They were having a blast with it too with the two diesels on the other end blowing their horns and creating quite the spectacle.
The railroad crossing here is one of the CSX installs Buckingham Branch inherited. 2000s installs with Safetran signals and a GS Type 2 electronic bell.
