My approach to the bible, in contrast to most of Modern Bible Scholars. Scholarship on this subject, is tremendously ugly. With a few exceptions, the overwhelming majority of modern bible scholarship is complete garbage. And typically, the assumption I go with, is that there is no reason to waste time with it. I'd rather do the work myself, if possible.
