On July 25, 1962, a nuclear test code named BlueGill Prime under Operation Fishbowl, attempted launch but ended in disaster when the Thor missile became engulfed in flames and the Range Safety Officer sent the destruct command to the warhead so the charges exploded asymmetrically and did not end in a nuclear explosion.
