More than 600 Sydneysiders take part in Operation Picnic, a simulation of the aftermath of a nuclear attack organised by the Department of Civil Defence. A convoy of refugees evacuate Sydney for the Blue Mountains. At Glenbrook they are checked for contamination before moving on to Katoomba Showground for a meal, 18/2/1961.
