Alaska Grizzly bear encounter 15 feet away while fishing for salmon Crave Life 2021-07-29 | The grizzly bear came out of the dense forest with a look of anger on his face. His eyes spoke that he will not hesitate to eliminate a threat on his mission to find dinner. The murky glacial waters helped masquerade the 10's of thousands of chinook salmon directly below the grizzly's eyes.This barrier did not stop the bear. His growling stomach pushed him forward to begin the search for a stray salmon. After what seemed like hours of defeat, he found a carcass that guides recently threw overboard after packing the prized red fillet into a tourist cooler. The bear devoured the carcass in seconds taking the edge off his hunger for minutes. The salmon placed a smile on someone's face and become an appetizer to the bear.A day in my Alaskan life.....Грозный медведь вышел из густого леса с яростью на лице. Summit Lake, Hatcher Pass Crave Life 2020-05-29 | Crave Life Episode 44Summit Lake is a really popular place for paragliding in the summer. At times, more than 10 paragliders can be in the sky simultaneously. With the right winds, they can fly up alongside the mountains for hours. Wind coming up the mountain valley hits the slopes and creates a narrow band of lift. This type of flying is called ridge soaring.When learning to paraglide, you want to wait for good weather conditions when there is light or no winds. In such conditions, usually in the evenings, the student will not gain elevation but simply glide down to the landing zone. Once landed, you can continue to try to kite the wing for some extra practice.In this video, you can see my brother Vitaly and I, along with my 11-year old son Ben on some of our first flights.Ben tagged along to our kiting lessons and was watching us train closely, so the instructor offered to let him try to kite and he immediately kited the wing for 5 minutes.At Summit Lake, elevation change from top launch to LZ is about 800 feet (240 meters).

While skiing the slopes, I meet the local ski guide, Pete. He invites us over to spend the night in his Tree House. My goodness, what an experience this place is! Every piece of it shows the craftsmanship and love put into the place. I never thought burning a wood stove 30 feet off the ground was something I'd ever try, what a unique experience! The out-side hot-tub runs off of a natural fire. I considered giving it a go, however, remembered the frog analogy on a stove. Figured I have a lot more of Alaska to share and perhaps I'll give it a go next time. The old school bus house with a stove inside sure was a sight, then a ski-bum crawls out of it for a days’ worth of work hauling up skiers on his Ski-doo long track. What a life, eh!? Alaska 7.2 Magnitude Earthquake Aftermath - Causes unbelievable destruction! Crave Life 2018-12-01 | Crave Life Episode 23This episode is not the regular adventure's I post. It is focused on todays earthquake that hit the most populated area in Alaska.The Earthquake was the most severe I have ever experienced living in Alaska for 20 years. At 0830 on November 30th 2018 I was at work and the entire building began to violently shake. Thinking it was a routine earthquake, I paused for several seconds. I quickly realized that things were getting very ugly and made a dash for the door to exit the building. On my way out, the file cabinet drawers started to slide out like piano keys and the haul way kept on changing directions causing great difficulty exiting the building. On exit, the first thing I saw was a Tsunami Warning appear on my phone.Unfortunately I did not turn my camera on in time to record the exit, it was one I will never forget. Once outside I learned of the devastation caused to the community in many areas. Roads, bridges, buildings and homes suffered severe damage.This particular location was just 4 miles from my home in Wasilla, Alaska. The driver of this vehicle performed in a way that leaves one in awe. Maybe a former Nascar driver? If anyone knows who the driver is, please leave in comments below.How can a vehicle nose dive 6 feet into a hole, at 45 MPH, then jump at least 3 times to come parked on the last flat piece of pavement before impacting a solid wall!?The community has responded incredibly well and friends from all over the country have offered assistance. I am proud to see fellow Alaskans tough this out and focus on the most important part that no lives were lost! Bent metal, cracked walls, and damaged roads all can be replaced by our great people.Remember to appreciate your loved ones and be thankful that everyone can do that after such a terrifying event!Remember to Adventure more & Crave Life!

The two best teams in the state of Alaska take to the Superbowl 2018 of the Popwarner PeeWee league. The Eagles remained undefeated until just a few games short in the playoffs game where they lost to the Steelers in a heart throbbing game that ended in a 6-0 win for the Steelers. The Steelers held the Eagles on the 2 YD line with 30 seconds remaining and proceeded to this final game of the season. The 747's are completely retired in the USA for travel, however there are still several international airlines operating them. As of this trip British Airways has 38 of them and they plan to be phased out over the next 5 years. With proper planning, you can find some real great deals travelling with BA in business class. The task is to fill the freezer with Fresh Alaskan Salmon coming into the Kasilof River directly out of the Cook Inlet (Pacific Ocean). Our limit is 75 fish, we put in all efforts to reach it. Meeting the mysterious man from Alaska State Troopers Funny Arrest video Crave Life 2018-09-07 | Crave Life Episode 12Today I got a call from an old Boss, a guy thousands in the airline world know. His name is Glen Clemons, he hired me when I was 19 years old to fly regional jets for Continental Express and we have stayed in touch over the years as friends. He happened to be in Anchorage, so what do pilot buddies do when the opportunity presents to meet? Of course go Flying. Considering the short window of time we had, Hope Alaska made the most sense with its close proximity to Anchorage. After departure from Merrill Field we arrived in Hope shortly after. Immediately we experienced the town spirit catching a ride in the back of a pickup truck to the local coffee shop located in the town center. Thank you to the local resident for that lift!We walked thru town hitting up the local landmarks, checked out the gold panning site, museum and the view into the Turnagain Arm. We caught another ride from a summer Texan transplant mining for Gold, Super nice guy and highly entertaining!On our walk to the plane we stumble into DAN, he was just relaxing on a wooden bench, and actually kind of startled us. He couldn't look more local, so I had a little chat with him. Little did I know how known Dan actually is. Turns out he was the guy arrested in one of the most funniest Alaska State Troopers Videos posted on YouTube "Alaska State Troopers Funny Arrest". I've watched that video and highly recommend you do as well, its a great laugh!
