Through the Voluntary Public Access and Habitat Incentive Program (VPA-HIP), we’re helping state and tribal governments encourage landowners to open public access to their land -- for hunting, fishing and other wildlife-dependent recreation.
This year, we’re investing $52 million for 19 VPA-HIP projects that will strengthen wildlife habitats, offer incentives to producers willing to allow access to their lands, and create more opportunities for the public to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
The Working Families Tax Cuts Act restored funding for VPA-HIP, providing the most funding it has received since it was established in 2012.
